Volume 10, page 231, sitting numbers 13,294 and 13,295.
Given the context of the album, this is probably John Charles Fletcher of Dale Park, Madehurst, and 88 Eaton Place, London. Born about 1804 in Scotland, the 1861 census gives his profession as 'Magistrate of the County.' By the time that the 1871 census was taken, he had become a Justice of the Peace and a Deputy-Lieutenant.
John Charles Fletcher died, aged 76, at Dale Park on 9 March 1875. He left an estate valued at £800,000, which was a phenomenally large legacy in the nineteenth century.
Mrs Elizabeth Fletcher née Church was born in or about 1817 in Scotland. Her death was announced in the Times on 14 November 1888: 'On the 9th inst. at Madehurst Lodge, Arundel, Elizabeth, widow of John Charles Fletcher, of Dale Park, Sussex, aged 72.'
