She left effects valued at £14,603.

In 1867 Bertha married James Edwards Vivian. The couple appear on the 1871 census living in Lewisham with their son Charles (aged 2 ), daughter Nora (age 1), and four servants. James Vivian was a merchant by profession. He also carried on business as a banker in Helston but in February 1879 the bank failed. That same year he retired as a partner in Vivian, Bond and Watson, metalbrokers (Lloyd's List, 12 February 1879) and on 17 December 1879 he died, aged only 54. Bertha died at Truro on 13 December 1889, leaving an estate valued at £7138 (later resworn at £3584).
