Miss Hunter Rodwell
(1845-1899)
20 June 1863

Volume 10, page 303, sitting number 13,579.

Miss Hunter Rodwell was among the guests at a Drawing Room held at St James's Palace by Princess Alexandra on the Queen's behalf on Saturday 20 June 1863 (reported in the Times on Monday 22 June 1863). She was accompanied by her mother, but no first name was given for either woman in the report.

Miss Hunter Rodwell was probably Harriette Mary Hunter Rodwell, daughter of Benjamin Bridges Hunter Rodwell, Q.C., who served as the MP for Cambridgeshire during the 1870s. She was born in the autumn of 1845 and baptised on 23 Nov 1845 at Great Baddow in Essex. On 3 September 1874 she married the Reverend Charles Smyth Johnston. She died on 11 May 1899, survived by two daughters and one son.
