Captain Cecil Webb Cragg of the Rifle Brigade

Cecil Webb Cragg joined the Rifle Brigade as an Ensign by purchase on 2 March 1855. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 2 August 1855 and to the rank of Captain (again by purchase) on 4 February 1862. He eventually rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Rifle Brigade.
He married Edith Webb, daughter of John Webb, a well-known London connoisseur and art dealer.
Lieutenant-Colonel Cecil Webb Cragg of Wrotham Place, Wrotham, near Sevenoaks in Kent, died at Wrotham Place on 21 February 1898, leaving an estate valued at £20,890.
