The Honourable George Mostyn
and his family

Identified in the Silvy daybooks as 'Hon Mr and Hon Mrs Mostyn and child,' this is Major the Honourable George Charles Mostyn (1830-1879) and his wife Mary, second daughter of the Right Reverend Henry Monk, Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol. Born at Kiddington in Oxfordshire in 1830, Major Mostyn was the son of George Charles Mostyn, 6th Baron Vaux of Harrowden.

The couple were married at St Paul's in Pimlico on 9 August 1859 (Hampshire Telegraph, 13 August 1859). 

The child is Hubert Charles George Mostyn, born on 4 June 1860. He succeeded his grandfather in 1883, becoming 7th Baron Vaux of Harrowden. He died on 25 October 1935 at Harrowden Hall in Northamptonshire, leaving an estate valued at £136,729.

The Honourable Charles George Mostyn died, aged 49, at Cairo on 31 May 1879. 

'Mr Mostyn was the eldest son of Lord Vaux of Harrowden, and married in 1859, Mary, daughter of Dr. Monk, the late Bishop of Gloucester, by whom he has left six surviving children (Worcester Herald, 28 June 1879).
