Lord Wallscourt

Identified in the Silvy daybooks as 'Lord Wallescourt' [sic], this is Erroll Augustus Blake, 4th Baron Wallscourt of Ardfry, County Galway.

Born on 22 August 1841, the son of Joseph Henry Blake, 3rd Baron Wallscourt, he succeeded his father on 27 March 1849. Educated at Eton, he gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Coldstream Guards. He was an extra aide-de-camp to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

On 7 February 1874, he married firstly Lady Jane Harriet Charlotte Stanhope, daughter of Charles Wyndham Stanhope, 7th Earl of Harrington. He married secondly Mary Ethel Palliser, daughter of Sir William Palliser, on 25 January 1896.

Lord Wallscourt died on 22 July 1918, at the age of 76.
