The French soprano Marie Caroline Miolan-Carvalho studied under Duprez. She made her debut at Brest in 1849 as Isabella in Robert le Diable. She was at the Opéra in Paris from 1849 to 1855, where she created the role of Marguerite in Faust. She was in London at Covent Garden from 1859 to 1864, and again from 1871 to 1872, where she was the first London Dinorah. She also sang in Berlin and St Petersburg.

She was married to the impresario Léon Carvalho.
