David Fisher
(1816-1887)
The English actor David Fisher was born at East Dereham in Norfolk in 1816. He was a violinist at local concerts before acting at the Prince's Theatre in Glasgow between 1849 and 1853. He first appeared in London at the Princess's Theatre as Victor in The Lancers on 2 November 1853. He remained at the Princess's for six years, where in June 1858 he played in his own piece Music Hath Charms. In 1859 he acted at the Adelphi as Abbé Latour in The Dead Heart. In 1863 he gave an entertainment entitled Facts and Fancies at the Hanover Square Rooms and at St James's Hall. He played at the Princess's in 1863, at the Haymarket in 1865, and at the Amphitheatre and Alexandra Theatres in Liverpool between 1865 and 1868. At the opening of the Globe Theatre in London, on 28 November 1868 he played Major Treherne in H. J. Byron's Cyril's Success. During his subsequent career he appeared at the Drury Lane, the Olympic, the Globe, the Opera Comique, the Criterion, the Mirror, the Princess's, and the Lyceum. His last appearance was in 1884.
David Fisher died at St Augustine's Road, Camden Town, London, on 4 October 1887.
