The Honourable Mrs Charles Addington
(1843-1912)

Born Nelly Hindmarsh Mundy in 1843, this is a daughter of Alfred Miller Mundy and his wife, Jane née Hindmarsh.

Nelly appears on the 1861 census, living with her parents and older sister at Shipley Hall in Derbyshire. At the time of the census she was 17, so she was born in or about 1844. She gave 'South Australia' as her place of birth. Her grandfather, Rear-Admiral Sir John Hindmarsh, served as the first Governor of South Australia from 28 December 1836 to 16 July 1838.

On 5 August 1862 Major the Honourable Charles John Addington, third son of Viscount Sidmouth, married Nelly, second daughter of Alfred Miller Mundy, Esq., of Shipley Hall, Derby (Derbyshire Courier, 9 August 1862).

In 1885 her husband was cited as one of the co-respondents in the divorce of Mr and Mrs Thomas Bosvile of The Grove, near Basingstoke.

The Honourable Mrs Addington died on 27 June 1912, aged 69, at Park Lodge, Windsor. She left an estate valued at £2456.
