Born on 12 September 1828 at Addington Park in Surrey, George Howland Beaumont was the son of Sir George Howland Willoughby Beaumont, 8th Bt., and his wife Mary Anne née Howley. 

He was educated at Winchester College and at Christchurch, Oxford. He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Beaumont, of Stoughton Grange, Co. Leicester, on 7 June 1845. 

On 4 June 1850 at St Peter's, Eaton Square, he married firstly Pauline Menzies Belli, third daughter of William Hallowes Belli of the Hon. East India Company's Civil Service, and niece of Dr William Howley, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Their marriage produced six children. Lady Pauline Menzies Beaumont died on 9 December 1870.

On 4 April 1872 at St Paul's, Knightsbridge, Sir George Howland Beaumont married secondly Octavia Willougby, daughter of Digby Willoughby, 7th Baron Middleton of Middleton, and widow of Major John Richard Smyth Wallis (4th Dragoon Guards) of Drishane Castle, County Cork.

Sir George Howland Beaumont died, aged 53, at Cole Orton Hall, Leicestershire, on 8 June 1882. The cause of death was 'brain disease, after an illness of nearly three weeks' (Northwich Guardian, 14 June 1882). 

He was succeeded by his eldest son, Captain George Howland William Beaumont of the Royal Horse Artillery.
